A long awaited visit

My parents drove down from Philly to see us (well mostly Abby). It was the 1st time they have seen us since us since Sept 2008. They had been in Korea prior to this. It was a very short and sweet visit. They drove down on Monday, got here Monday night. Stayed here all day Tuesday. Then they left 1st thing on Wednesday. What a whirlwind!



We went shopping. Among the toys they picked up for her. They bought Abby this new yellow Dora dress she is wearign in this picture.

Trip to the dentist (part 2)

Abby's follow-up at the dentist went great! My only surprise was seeing the picture of how teeny tiny the correct amount of toothpaste we are supposed to use on her... yikes!!

Next time we are going to brave a cleaning!

1) one of my all-time favorite Korean folk songs "sahn-toh-kee" (roughly translated to "mountain rabbit"). Which by the way as I didn't know the words to the 2nd verse I ordered the CD while pregnant so Abby could one day learn the words. Good thing I did she likes the song! ;)

PS, these are another set of 2 month old videos. She can sing the rabbit song a whole lot better on her own now. After all she has had 2 months longer to practice. Who knows when I will get to to taping those let alone posting it.

Don't hold your breath waiting for another song.

Happiness is a Sad Song

Abby reading one of her favorite books "Happiness is a Sad Song" one of the several of the Happiness set from Charles Schulz (Snoopy). She's read is so much she can go through the pages and tell you what each of the pages are. This is a hand-me-down book from when Nick was young. Its so tattered and torn, its mostly held together by tape. I've since gotten her a cardstock copy with all of the happiness series in one but apparently that is too big. I got a separate one "Love is walking hand in hand" which is also a bed time favorite!

Its hard to understand what she is saying so here is some Abby translation ;)

"Happiness is finally getting your big teeth"

"Happiness is catching a snowflake on your tongue"... "ahhhh~~~~"

"no I'm reading it!"

Trip to the dentist

Abby fell at daycare on Thurs July 9th around 3:17pm. They were playing outside and getting ready to line up to come back in. She was near the sidewalk and literally tripped on her own 2 feet. Her teacher was right there and scooped her up. Unfortunately she fell face first! She chipped her front tooth (very small). The bigger injury was the attachment under her lip was ripped and bled for about 1 1/2 hrs.

I called the pediatric dentist before I left the office thinking "I won't over react". Until I realized what she had ripped. I called the dentist again and he agreed to see us. The office was already closed for the weekend but he agreed to wait for us. Long story short, she's fine. In fact she's already healed up. The boo-boo on the outside of her lip is gone already too.

She actually cried when we LEFT the dentist! I called and made an appt for the follow-up the Dr recommended yesterday. The receptionist tried to schedule us for another Dr but since we had such great luck w/the previous one I didn't want to test it. We're going back to see Dr. Dave!

I was too freaked out to take pictures. I'll resume pictures on happier moments later...

Friday night there was a terrential downpour with flooded streets. After the storm passed the kids found some little frogs outside... we had little froggie races, they put them in pails, passed them around, then at last let them hop along their merry way...

Surf City, NC 2009 (part 1)

super big posts to show this is why I haven't been able to get up & go to the gym in the wee dark hours of the morning. It was another fun-filled beach week with the whole crew. There are too many pix in this post to logically organize them. At least I got the post done~ phew...
